Day 91 – 92 – Minca

Minca is a jungle ‘city’ nested in the Sierra Nevada mountains of Colombia not far from Santa Marta, in the North of Colombia. I got a morning bus from Cartagena to Santa Marta and then shared a taxi to Minca about an hour away into the jungle. The hostel was super nice, perched on a sunset lookout point overlooking the city. I had a couple drinks and then caught an early night.

The next day I ventured on an adventure with some people I had met the night before for a tour of one of Colombias biggest exports; cocaine  coffee. We saw the process of how they make their coffee and then had a tasting at the end. Still nothing on Matteo’s flat whites from Grafton St.

Afterwards, we went to a nearby waterfall for a swim and lunch. Waterfalls have featured heavily in the trip so far, so it now takes a pretty special one to impress me. This one was ok. 6.5/10.

The hostel was having a party at night so we had a few drinks and went to see what it was about. The hostel has kind of a hippy vibe about it so it was no surprise to hear trance/ electronic music playing and see people shirtless with paint on them dancing. The strong weed smell consumed the dance floor and people danced… strangely. Not particularly my scene but it was a humorous night if nothing else.
